Exterior
Exterior work in this region has to hold up to summer humidity, winter freeze-thaw, and the wind that runs off the plateau. We spec for our climate, not a national catalog, and we stand behind every board.
Exterior in the Chattanooga area — the short answer
Rivco Construction handles siding, fiber cement, decks and outdoor living, masonry, gutters, and storefront facades, specified for East Tennessee humidity, ridge-line wind, and freeze-thaw cycles rather than a national catalog spec.

Every trade under one roof.
Decks
Pressure-treated, cedar, and composite decks with proper footings, ledger flashing, and railings that meet code — not the decks that fail their inspection five years in.
Siding
Fiber cement (Hardie), engineered wood, and vinyl siding installed with correct fastener schedules, flashing, and starter strips.
Gutters
Seamless 5" and 6" aluminum gutters with hidden hangers, gutter guards, and proper downspout routing away from the foundation.
Exterior Painting
Full prep — scrape, prime, caulk — then two coats of top-tier exterior paint. Not a one-coat spray-and-go.
Masonry & Stone
Full-thickness stone, thin veneer, and brick installations for facades, chimneys, columns, and site walls.
A process you can plan around.

Rivco employees on-site every day. Subs are vetted specialists we've worked with for years, not the lowest bidder.
Where we do this work.
Exterior questions, answered plainly.
- What siding holds up best in the Tennessee Valley?
- Fiber cement is our default recommendation for this climate — it handles summer humidity and winter freeze-thaw better than vinyl and takes paint predictably. We spec for our weather, not a national catalog.
- What does a deck cost?
- Pressure-treated decks generally run $45–70 per square foot installed; composite and covered outdoor living structures run $90–160 per square foot depending on roof structure and railing.
- Do you do masonry and stonework?
- Yes — foundations, veneer, chimneys, retaining walls, and hardscape, including steep-lot work on Signal Mountain and Lookout Mountain.
- Can you handle storefront facades and ADA retrofits?
- Yes. Storefront work, entry retrofits, and accessibility upgrades for small commercial tenants are part of our exterior scope.
- How long does a siding replacement take?
- Most full siding replacements run 2–4 weeks depending on home size, substrate condition, and paint scope.
- Do you replace gutters at the same time?
- We recommend it. Gutters, flashing, and drainage are cheapest to correct while the wall is already open.
